Lescott backs Connor to save Wolves
Joleon Lescott praises "influential" Terry Connor, who has been appointed Wolverhampton Wanderers manager until the end of the season.

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott is confident that Wolverhampton Wanderers' caretaker boss Terry Connor has the experience to make an impact at Molineux.

The 49-year-old has been appointed manager of the West Midlands club for the rest of the season following Wolves' failure to sign a permanent boss this week.

Lescott, who spent six years at Molineux, believes that "influential" Connor has the right attributes to take charge of the side.

"Connor is one of the most influential coaches I have worked with in my career, and that includes everyone I have worked with," BBC Sport quotes Lescott as saying.

"I owe him a lot. He's a proper football man, and probably one of the most knowledgeable about the game that there is around and helped to develop people like Matt Jarvis and Michael Kightly.

"Connor had a lot of respect from the players at the time when I was there and I am sure that will be the same from the lads who are at Wolves now. He was always such a focused and determined person and everything was so well organised that, if he is in charge of Wolves on Saturday, they will certainly be well prepared."

Connor has 13 games left to ensure Wolves remain in the Premier League.
