Real Madrid youngster Marco Asensio is reportedly close to joining Espanyol on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old officially moved to the Bernabeu this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Mallorca.
On Tuesday, it was reported that Rafael Benitez is prepared to let the attacker leave on loan this summer, with a number of clubs interested in a move.
According to Sport, Espanyol currently lead the race for the Spanish Under-21 international and are confident of completing a deal later this week.
Espanyol are also said to be closing in on a deal for Villarreal's Gerard Moreno.
