Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez claims that he 'knows nothing' of reported interest from his former club Real Madrid.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez has admitted that he 'knows nothing' of reported interest from former club Real Madrid.

The Mexican international represented Real Madrid during a loan spell from Manchester United in the 2014-15 campaign - scoring nine times in 33 appearances.

Los Blancos decided against making the deal permanent, however, and the forward has since moved on to Leverkusen, where he has netted 33 goals in 53 appearances.

It has been claimed that the Spanish giants want to re-sign Hernandez, but the 28-year-old has denied that there has been any contact from Madrid over a move.

"I don't know anything about Real Madrid. I have always said that, when I lived there, I had two stages: the first was negative but the second one got better because I had more opportunities. It's just a shame we couldn't win anything," Hernandez told reporters.

"I am really grateful to the Real Madrid board and supporters but I haven't heard anything about that, I am a Leverkusen player and I am very happy here."

Hernandez was part of the Leverkusen side that recorded a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
