Experienced pair Shay Given and John O'Shea have handed manager Giovanni Trapattoni a fitness boost ahead of Euro 2012 by returning to Republic of Ireland training today.
First-choice goalkeeper Given was instructed to rest a niggling knee injury after seeing a London-based specialist.
Meanwhile, O'Shea had been troubled by a recurring ankle problem that had put his place in Ireland's 23-man squad under threat.
However, the key duo have now been cleared to recommence their preparations for the tournament.
Trapattoni may include both players in Ireland's team to face Hungary on Monday after they missed Saturday's friendly win over Bosnia-Herzogovenia.
