The transfer window came to an end on Monday night as Premier League clubs competed with rivals at home and abroad to land their targets.

Chelsea were responsible for completing the biggest deal of the day as Juan Cuadrado moved to Stamford Bridge for a reported £23.3m from Fiorentina, while Mohamed Salah went in the opposite direction and Andre Schurrle joined Wolfsburg.

Aaron Lennon, Wilfried Zaha and Darren Fletcher were just a few of the names to begin new challenges in their respective careers on a busy day of transfer activity.

Read below to find out how the deals were completed throughout the day.

Zaha, Schurrle, Alli, Salah, Fletcher, Cuadrado and so many more have taken centre stage today, but sadly for those of you who love deadline day, the transfer window is shut until the summer. Thanks for following our coverage throughout the day. Let's do it all again in a few months!

Fletcher has been speaking about his move from Old Trafford to West Brom, and he was quick to underline the importance of Tony Pulis after signing on the dotted line.

"Everyone involved in making the deal happen has been fantastic. And a big reason I'm here is because of the head coach," the Scot told West Brom's website. "He has impressed me from the first minute. When someone shows how much they want you it's a great feeling."

It might not be a move that steals many headlines, but Fletcher's experience is certainly going to be a big asset for the Baggies going forward.

If you're wondering what happened with the Matt Jarvis to QPR reports, Harry Redknapp was keen to sign the winger on loan from West Ham United, but Premier League rules prevented him from securing the deal. QPR have already signed Mauro Zarate from the Hammers this month, and you cannot loan two players from another Premier League club. It turned into a frustrating window for Mr Redknapp.

Was it a last-minute bid for Robinho? Maybe we're clutching at straws. It's been a long day and I'm going down deadline day memory lane.

Rangers were busy until the final minutes of the transfer window as the Scottish Championship side used the Mike Ashley connection to loan five players from Newcastle United, and the Daily Record is reporting that they also rejected bids for Dean Shiels and Nicky Law from Hamilton and Bolton, respectively.

You might remember that earlier in the day Aston Villa were reported to have made a bid in the region of £5m for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert. Villa's lack of goals has been well reported, but Lambert was apparently quick to make it clear he had no intention of leaving Anfield, despite finding it difficult to earn regular chances since his summer move from Southampton. With Daniel Sturridge back, will it get any easier for Lambert?

Despite being tracked by Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace and a number of other clubs, Emmanuel Adebayor was reportedly keen on a move to West Ham United, but Daniel Levy stepped in late in the day to block the move. That decision is believed to have frustrated the Togolese forward, who was under the impression that Spurs would allow him to join any club. Read more about the collapse of that deal now.

Plenty of players changed clubs on deadline day, but there was also news of a couple of high-profile players signing contract extensions. If you missed it earlier, Spurs confirmed that Harry Kane had signed a an improved contract, while Philippe Coutinho is believed to have extended his stay at Liverpool. Great news for both clubs.

Continuing our look at the rest of Europe, Parma's financial troubles have seen them lose a number of senior players after failing to pay wages on time. It's a difficult time for a club that still has such a big fan base. A miserable deadline day for Parma.

Marseille completed the loan signing of Lucas Ocampos from Monaco earlier on, and the Argentine has admitted that the chance to work with a "great coach" in Marcelo Bielsa was a big reason behind the move. Is the creative midfielder the man to lead them to the title in Ligue 1?

Some news from Italy now. Modibo Diakite, who spent time with Sunderland last season, was believed to be close to signing for Fiorentina before the club pulled out of a deal. His availability has reportedly alerted Inter Milan, who are planning to bring the free agent to the San Siro.

I mentioned that Norwich missed out on a deal to sign Dorrans from West Brom, but it also appears that they failed with a bid to bring Craig Noone to the club from Cardiff City. It sounds like time was just not on Norwich's side today. Read more now.

DONE DEAL! Dundee United may have lost Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven to Celtic, but they've added to their squad, too, with the signing of Robbie Muirhead from Kilmarnock.

Players, agents, directors of football and managers are finally getting some sleep, but we're still here to round up the rest of the transfer news from a busy day. Perhaps there wasn't a Robinho-style shock, but there was a big deal as Chelsea finally completed a deal to sign Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina.

DONE DEAL! Alex Neil has raided his former club Hamilton Academical to take Tony Andreu to Norwich City in a deal which is believed to be worth £1m. That comes as good news for the Canaries after a move for Graham Dorrans collapsed.

Earlier in the day Brown Ideye was just a signature or two away from completing a move to West Brom from Al Gharafa, but the Baggies stepped in at the final hour to prevent their club-record signing from leaving. Read more about why that deal didn't go through.

Perhaps one of the more unexpected deals of the day came shortly before the deadline as Manchester United loaned Andy Kellet from Bolton for the rest of the season. You wouldn't expect the 21-year-old to be involved with the first team, but are the Red Devils taking a closer look at him ahead of a potential summer move?

The battle for Andy Delort's services was eventually won by Wigan Athletic in the summer, but 11 goalless appearances later and the striker is back at Tours on loan. Read more about his exit now.

Derby County secured a deal with Manchester United to sign Jesse Lingard on loan. Is Steve McClaren happy? You bet.
"Jesse is an exciting talent and someone that we are looking forward to working with," he told the club's official website. "He strengthens the attacking options that we can call upon and given we've lost Jordon Ibe and Johnny Russell in the last few weeks."

Is today's move to Crystal Palace the start of something special for Wilfried Zaha?

St Johnston have completed the loan signing of Danny Swanson from Peterborough, while Kenny McLean is now an Aberdeen player. There was plenty of movement in Scotland. Find out more about all of the details on the Scottish Premiership homepage.

Swindon supporters must be very happy tonight. Three clubs, including Cardiff City, are believed to have approached the club with an offer for Massimo Luongo, but reports have suggested that several bids were rejected for the Australian.

I'm sure Karl Robinson will be sad to see Delli Ali eventually leave MK Dons at the end of the season, but he has joined the club in wishing the highly-rated youngster well.

"His stats speak for themselves. His goals, his assists - he's a remarkable footballer and we wish him all the luck in the world," Robinson told Sky Sports News.

"We are immensely proud of Dele. He is one of many young and talented players to have progressed through the youth system here, which proves that the chairman's vision of providing local children with a step into professional football is paying off."

You can now find out all of the details from Dame N'Doye's move to Hull City. Is he the man to fire the Tigers to safety? They certainly need more goals.

A disappointed David Gold is still reflecting on transfer deadline day, telling his Twitter followers: "I'd like to thank David Sullivan and Sam for their efforts too secure new players during this window. However no matter how hard you tried there are people out their that you just can't do business with."

I think it's safe to say that is a little bit of a shot at Daniel Levy.

There has been so much speculation surrounding the future of Danny Ings. Burnley resisted the temptation to sell him this month, but the Clarets look certain to lose him on a free transfer in the summer. Reports are suggesting that Liverpool are leading the race for his signature. You can read more about that news now.

If you missed it earlier, Emmanuel Adebayor was close to joining West Ham before Spurs chairman Daniel Levy stepped in to block the move. As a result, Carlton Cole's proposed move to West Brom collapsed and that looks to have prevented Brown Ideye from completing a switch to Al Gharafa. Mr Levy just had to make an impact!

DONE DEAL! They've finally done it. Darren Fletcher is now a West Brom player. His experience could be crucial as the Baggies look to steer clear of the relegation zone.

Benoit Assou-Ekotto is finally a free agent after being released by Spurs today. His reaction? Well, you probably won't see social media used better than this on transfer deadline night.

💪💪💪 amen🙏

Alli will link up with the Spurs squad in the summer. Will he be a success story in North London?

DONE DEAL! It was a very busy day for Sheffield Wednesday. The club have completed their fourth signing of the day as Portuguese midfielder Melo joins Sergiu Bus, Marnick Vermijil and Lewis McGugan at Hillsborough.

Thank you Barney! The English transfer window may have closed over an hour ago, but the news just keeps on coming. I arrive with good news for Hull supporters. Steve Bruce's trip to Paris has been a success. Dame N'Doye has moved to the KC Stadium from Lokomotiv Moscow.

Right, that is my stint over! The deals have been steadily trickling through in the past hour, however, and we could yet have more come through before the night is over. Callum Mulvihill will keep you bang up to date with any further developments. Over to you Callum...

SCOTTISH TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED!

Having earlier told us all not to go to bed, hinting at further business tonight, West Ham chairman David Gold has apologised for keeping us up late. His targets never materialised in the end, with Adebayor understood to be the big one the Hammers missed out on.

DONE DEAL! Earlier today we brought you the news that AC Milan were closing in on the signing of Gabriel Paletta, and the former Liverpool defender has completed his move to the San Siro from Parma. He joins on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

DONE DEAL! With just five minutes to go until the end of the Scottish window, Celtic have finally pushed through a deal for Stuart Armstrong, who joins Gary Mackay-Steven in joining the Scottish Premiership leaders today.

Wondering whatever happened to the Olsson to West Brom rumours? Well, apparently his journey from Norwich was held up due to snow on the A14, meaning that the deal was not completed in time. That also affected the prospect of Graeme Dorrans moving the other way.

DONE DEALS! Bolton have been very busy on deadline day, and their latest deals involves some business with Manchester United. They have sent Andy Kellett on loan to the Red Devils, with Saidy Janko going the other way.

Tim Cahill mentioned that he had an announcement to make having left New York Red Bulls earlier today, and the former Everton player has now revealed that he is off to China to turn out for Shanghai Shenhua. He is understood to have rejected offers from Europe, the UAE and Japan.

DONE DEAL! Juventus were heavily linked with a move for Porto centre-back Rolando throughout the window, but they missed out to Anderlecht. The Belgian outfit have signed the Portugal international on loan until the end of the season.

DONE DEAL! It is being reported that Darren Fletcher has completed his move from Manchester United to West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer. That still hasn't been officially confirmed by either club, but it would be a great signing for the Baggies.

DONE DEAL! Still the deals continue to trickle through and another one arrives from the Championship. Sheffield Wednesday have completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Melo on a three-and-a-half-year contract.

DONE DEAL! There has been another departure from Bloomfield Road, with Gary MacKenzie leaving Championship strugglers Blackpool for Bradford. He joins the Bantams on a loan deal until the end of the season.

DONE DEALS! Across Glasgow, the Mike Ashley connection is in full effect at Celtic's Old Firm rivals Rangers. They have just signed no fewer than five players no loan from Newcastle United. Gaël Bigirimana, Kevin Mbabu, Shane Ferguson, Remie Streete & Haris Vučkić have all joined the Scottish Championship outfit.

DONE DEAL! News of a completed transfer coming through from Celtic, with Gary Mackay-Steven's move finally going through. Stuart Armstrong is also closing in on a move to Celtic Park, and that one is expected to be completed before midnight.

DONE DEAL! You may remember there being a race for the signature of Andy Delort from Tours during the summer transfer window. Wigan won that race to sign the highly-rated striker, but it is fair to say that his time at the DW Stadium has not worked out. He has now returned to Tours on loan until the end of the season.

Spurs fans will be excited about the potential of Dele Alli following his signing from MK Dons. They will have to wait until next season to see him in a Tottenham shirt, however, as he will spend the rest of the campaign on loan at MK Dons. You can find the full story on that move here.

A number of players were linked with a move away from Tottenham throughout today and, while Lennon and Assou-Ekotto have both left, the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor, Etienne Capoue and Younes Kaboul remain at White Hart Lane.

DONE DEAL! Of course, the Scottish window is still open until 12am, but there has been a departure from North of the border in the shape of Filip Twardzik. The Czech midfielder has joined Bolton from Celtic.

So, we're still waiting for Darren Fletcher to complete his move to West Bromwich Albion, but the Carlton Cole deal now definitely appears to be off. N'Doye to Hull is still awaiting confirmation, while a few more deals could continue to leak through despite the window having closed 22 minutes ago.

Staying in North London, and while Arsenal have not done any business of their own tonight, they were reportedly subject to a bid for Francis Coquelin from Napoli. However, the Gunners turned down the approach for their defensive midfielder, who has worked his way into the starting lineup at the Emirates Stadium in recent weeks.

DONE DEAL! Spurs have completed the deal to sign Dele Alli from MK Dons on a five-and-a-half-year contract for a fee thought to be around £5m. He will be loaned back to the Dons for the rest of the season before joining Tottenham for good in the summer.

Some news for Hull City fans, who have been linked with Dame N'Doye heavily today. The move for the Lokomotiv Moscow man is reportedly still on, but there are issues over a work permit. Steve Bruce is currently in Paris trying to push that deal over the line.

Those at Luton Town are still working despite the deadline having passed, but they don't have much choice!

No news is good news for Birmingham City fans. Having seen a number of bids rejected for promising youngster Demarai Gray this month, the Blues have indeed managed to keep hold of the attacker.

DONE DEAL! Wigan simply needed to strengthen their squad having seen so many key players depart this month, and they have looked to do exactly that by bringing in Leon Clarke on loan from Wolves until the end of the season.

BREAKING NEWS: Some breaking news coming out of West Bromwich Albion, who are the club we expected to be busiest in the next hour or so. They are nearing a deal for Fletcher, but their hopes of signing Carlton Cole have hit a snag and could now be off.

DONE DEAL! Southampton fans have been hoping for a second signing of the day following their earlier capture of Filip Djuricic. Ryan Bertrand has made his loan move to the Saints permanent from Chelsea. That is a good signing for the Saints.

The January transfer window comes to an end, but stick with us as plenty of deals could still go through after the deadline. The Scottish deadline is still an hour away too, so there is plenty more to come.

TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSED!

DONE DEAL! Confirmation is through that Jesse Lingard has joined Derby County on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

ADEBAYOR LATEST: Adebayor looks like he is staying put at White Hart Lane, with reports suggesting that Daniel Levy has blocked the move due to not wanting to sell to rivals West Ham United. It is understood that Spurs would have had to contribute to the wages during a loan spell as well, which Levy was not willing to do.

DONE DEALS! Cardiff have been very busy in the last 10 minutes or so! They have completed two more deals tonight, bringing in Matty Kennedy on a permanent deal until 2018 and Conor McAleny on loan until the end of the season. Both players arrive from Everton.

Crystal Palace and Bolton have been in business with each other today, with Barry Bannan joining the Championship outfit and Lee Chung-yong going the other way. You can find that story here.

DONE DEAL! Eoin Doyle had been reported to be undergoing a medical at Cardiff City, and that move has now been completed. The striker joins from Chesterfield to become the Bluebirds' fifth signing of the window.

TEN MINUTES TO GO! Just 10 minutes left of the January transfer window, and still we await confirmation regarding the likes of Fletcher and Cole at West Brom.

Cahill is not the only one to have left an MLS club - Zat Knight has also parted company with Colorado Rapids today. More on that story here.

Everton legend Tim Cahill left New York Red Bulls earlier, which naturally prompted speculation over his future. Well, the Aussie has tweeted that he will make an announcement soon. Could it be retirement? He has also been linked with moves to Dubai and Japan.

DONE DEALS! Two deals from around Europe to bring you and, despite the Italian transfer window having closed at 10pm GMT, Sampdoria have squeezed through a deal for Palermo centre-back Ezequiel Munoz on loan until the end of the season. His current contract ends this summer, so he could well earn a permanent deal with Sampdoria should he impress. Over in France, Marseille have signed Lucas Ocampos on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.

There haven't been any incomings as Anfield today, but there is still some good news for Liverpool fans - Philippe Coutinho, who has been in sparkling form in recent weeks, has signed a new contract with the club that will take him all the way through to 2020.

DONE DEAL! There was plenty of confusion over the Wilfried Zaha deal to Crystal Palace earlier in the day, but that has now been finalised. The winger has rejoined the Eagles on a permanent deal from Manchester United following an unsuccessful stint at Old Trafford.

DONE DEALS! A couple more signings from the lower leagues to bring you, including a third signing of the day for Accrington Stanley. They have brought in goalkeeper Scott Davies from Fleetwood on a loan until the end of the season. Port Vale have also brought in another new face, with Hull striker Greg Luer joining on a month-long deal.

That Lennon deal is one of the biggest of deadline day so far, though, with the winger rejecting interest from the likes of Stoke and Hull to join the Toffees. You can follow that developing story with us here.

One player who won't be going anywhere today is Blackburn's John O'Sullivan; the 21-year-old midfielder has signed a new contract with the club that will keep him at Ewood Park until June 2016.

DONE DEAL! The deal are starting to roll in now as we enter the final 30 minutes of deadline day. Crystal Palace have wrapped up a deal for Bolton's Lee Chung-yong, signing the South Korean for an undisclosed fee.

DONE DEAL! Everton have completed the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon. He has joined until the end of the season, with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

DONE DEAL! It isn't exactly Fernando Torres for £50m, but Burton Albion have completed the loan signing of Derby County teenager Ivan Calero on an initial one-month youth deal.

Jesse Lingard has been heavily linked with a loan move to Derby County today, and reports suggest that he is edging ever closer to joining the Rams. He has also reportedly signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Manchester United, although that will not affect his loan move to the iPro Stadium.

DONE DEAL! Paul Dixon has completed his return to Dundee United having had his contract terminated at Huddersfield Town. You can find the full story of that move here.

DONE DEAL! Keith Andrews has seen his loan deal with Watford cut short, but it didn't take long for parent club Bolton to ship him out again. He has now joined MK Dons for the rest of the season.

The deadline for Italian clubs has now passed, becoming the second major European league today to see the window close following the 5pm GMT deadline in Germany. We have 45 minutes left for English and French clubs to get their deals done, while Scottish clubs have until midnight.

DONE DEAL! More news from South Wales as Cardiff City have let Daniel Johnson leave on a temporary basis. He joins Stevenage on an initial one-month loan deal.

ADEBAYOR LATEST: David Gold, you big tease! The West Ham United chairman has hinted that he is not done in the market yet as rumours of a move for Adebayor continue to circulate...

DONE DEALS! A couple more done deals to bring you from the lower leagues of English football as Rochdale's Matt Done has joined Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee in a bid to help them push for the League One playoffs. QPR have also allowed Bruno Andrade to join Stevenage on a one-month loan deal.

Harry Redknapp is usually a fixture of transfer deadline day, but it has been very quiet at QPR so far today. The potential loan signing of Matt Jarvis is the only deal they are currently working on, but Zarate's required move back to the Hammers having only joined on loan this month could prove to be a stumbling block.

ADEBAYOR LATEST: A host of clubs have been linked with a move for Adebayor over this January transfer window, but the side most interested in the Tottenham striker right now is understood to be West Ham. However, Daniel Levy is reportedly refusing to subsidise Adebayor's wages for any loan move to Upton Park, partly due to the rivalry between the two clubs. That is one to keep an eye on.

I earlier brought you the confirmation of Salah's departure from Stamford Bridge, and you can find the full story of that loan deal to Fiorentina here.

ONE HOUR TO GO! We have just one hour left of the 2015 January transfer window! West Brom are still looking to do quite a bit of business before the window shuts, while we are still awaiting news from the likes of Aaron Lennon and Matt Jarvis.

DONE DEAL! North of the border, Aberdeen have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund defender Lukas Culjak. The 18-year-old underwent a successful trial period with the Scottish club and now joins on a deal until the end of the season.

Dele Alli has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs today and the latest news coming out of White Hart Lane is that the MK Dons youngster has completed his medical at the club. He will be loaned back to MK Dons for the rest of the season before joining Spurs for good at the end of the campaign.

There has been managerial upheaval at the City Ground in the past week, but new boss Dougie Freedman doesn't seem to be in the mood to sell any players. Nottingham Forest have reportedly rejected a bid for Henri Lansbury from Premier League outfit Burnley.

West Ham have seen a couple of targets slip through their fingers in this window, but they are reportedly close to bringing in Genk defender Kara Mbodj. The Senegalese defender has been away at the Africa Cup of Nations, which is a reason behind the late development of this one. More on the story here.

It is understood that Barry Bannan has completed a loan move to Bolton Wanderers, although that deal has not yet been officially confirmed by either Crystal Palace or Bolton.

DONE DEAL! Chelsea's business on deadline day always looked to be dependent on getting that Cuadrado deal over the line. That paved the way for Schurrle to join Wolfsburg, while Salah has also now completed his move to Fiorentina on a season-long loan. More on that story soon.

FLETCHER LATEST: Another development on Darren Fletcher's future, and the long-serving Manchester United midfielder has arrived at West Brom's training ground in the last few minutes. That deal has been bubbling along all day and now it looks like just a matter of time before it is completed.

Moving up to Scotland, and it is understood that Dundee United have ended their pursuit of Hibernian midfielder Scott Allan. The Scottish Premiership outfit reportedly had multiple offers rejected and have now given up on the deal.

DONE DEAL! I mentioned Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony's disgust at being unable to bring any players into the club today, but he has let striker Tyrone Barnett leave. He joins Shrewsbury Town for an undisclosed fee.

You can follow the developing story around Benoit Assou-Ekotto's release from Tottenham Hotspur here. It wasn't long ago that the left-back was a key player at White Hart Lane, but he has fallen right down the pecking order in recent seasons.

DONE DEALS! A couple of lines coming out of the Championship now: Conor Wilkinson has joined Oldham Athletic on loan from Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season, while Sheffield Wednesday have let Mani Dieseruvwe go to Chesterfield on a permanent transfer.

Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony is not exactly known for keeping his thoughts to himself, and he has had some interesting things to say about an unnamed Championship club failing to make an agreed payment. Read his views here.

BREAKING NEWS: Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they have released Benoit Assou-Ekotto from his contract at the club.

Over to Serie A now, and Fiorentina have completed the signing of Genoa winger Aleandro Rosi on loan. You can find the full story for that deal here.

West Ham could be getting Zarate back and losing Jarvis on loan to QPR, but it is looking increasingly unlikely that they will sign centre-back Doria from Marseille. The Brazilian reportedly passed a medical ahead of a move to the Hammers, but the deal has still not been finalised and hopes of pushing it over the line before 11pm are growing dimmer.

DONE DEAL! Tom Ince seems to have been a constant figure in recent deadline days, and he is on the move again here. Derby County, as expected, have won the race to sign the winger on loan from Hull City, and he will be with the high-flying Rams until the end of the season. More on that story will be on site very shortly.

An interesting development down at QPR, with Matt Jarvis being linked with a loan move from West Ham United. That would also mean that Mauro Zarate returns to the Hammers having only joined QPR on loan at the start of the current window. He was involved in a spat with Sam Allardyce too, you will remember, so that would be a strange move should it materialise.

More also on the story that Martin Olsson is nearing a £4m move to West Bromwich Albion.

DONE DEAL! Crystal Palace have brought a new face in to Selhurst Park in the last few moments, with midfielder Keshi Anderson joining from Barton Rovers until 2016. You can find the full story for that deal here.

Norwich City are understood to be interested in Cardiff City's Craig Noone, although reports suggest that a deal is some way from being reached due to both distance in valuation and distance in location between the two Championship clubs.

LAMBERT LATEST: One of the big questions that remains unanswered tonight surrounds the future of Rickie Lambert, who has been heavily linked with goal-shy Aston Villa. It has been dubbed as a decision between first-team football or sitting on the bench at the club he loves, and the latest reports suggest that he has chosen the latter. As things stand, it looks like he will be staying at Liverpool.

Some good news for Luton Town as Bournemouth striker Jayden Stockley has extended his loan spell with the League Two club by an extra month. You can read more on that story here.

Celtic have been busy trying to get a couple of deals over the line today as they look to strengthen their grip at the top of the Scottish Premiership table. Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong are both undergoing medicals at the club now, and it is expected that both moves should be completed before the deadline.

DONE DEAL! Plymouth Argyle have moved to strengthen their squad by bringing Anthony O'Connor in from Blackburn Rovers. The 22-year-old defender was with Argyle on loan earlier this season, making 29 appearances for the club, and he has now joined on a permanent basis.

DONE DEAL! A strange move to bring you from the Championship, and it concerns Norwich City's Kyle Lafferty. He has completed a loan switch to Turkish side Caykur Rizespor until the end of the season. Lafferty has made 20 appearances for the Canaries this season, scoring just one goal.

TWO HOURS TO GO! We have just two hours left of the January transfer window and still a number of deals are up in the air. Carlton Cole, Aaron Lennon and Darren Fletcher, to name just three, are moves we still expect to go through before the 11pm deadline.

Some interesting news regarding Hatem Ben Arfa, who has had a bit of a nightmare so far this season. Having played for Newcastle and Hull already, his transfer to Nice was deemed illegal by FIFA, meaning that he can't play for the Ligue 1 club until next season. As a result, the French attacker is reportedly considering retiring from the sport for good! Where did it all go wrong?

Derby County are thought to be looking at a couple of loan signings before the window ends at 11pm. They have been heavily linked with Tom Ince, while they are also now understood to be in pole position to sign Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard.

Speaking of West Brom, they had been linked with a loan move for Etienne Capoue of Tottenham Hotspur throughout the day and were understood to have been given permission to speak with the midfielder. However, the player himself has reportedly turned the move down.

Rumours are circulating that Martin Olsson could be on his way to West Bromwich Albion, who are fast becoming the busiest club in the closing stages of this transfer window. The Norwich City defender is close to completing a £4m move to the Hawthorns, according to reports.

DONE DEAL! St Mirren may have lost Kenny McLean to Aberdeen, but they have now brought in Emmanuel Sonupe from Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the season. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is an Under-18s England international and will look to gain first-team football North of the border.

DONE DEALS! Aston Villa have allowed promising young Callum Robinson to leave the club on a temporary basis as he joins Preston North End. In the Championship, meanwhile, Huddersfield Town striker Daniel Carr has joined Dagenham & Redbridge on loan until the end of the season.

More on Aaron Lennon's imminent switch to Everton here. We're still awaiting confirmation for that deal, but it is understood to be all but done. Another winger who has been on the move today is Wilfried Zaha, and he has expressed his delight at being back at Crystal Palace on a permanent basis.

Earlier I promised you more on news of two Championship deals, and here they are:

Huddersfield sign Ishmael Miller
Brentford sign Jack O'Connell from Blackburn Rovers

News coming out of Molineux is that Roger Johnson has left the club by mutual consent. The defender and the club have come to an agreement to cancel his contract, ending his four-year stint with the Midlands outfit.

DONE DEALS! Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic are in desperate need of an improvement from somewhere and, having lost a number of key players already this month, they have turned to former Olympiacos player Gaetan Bong.

DONE DEAL! News of another loan move in the lower leagues to bring you as Cardiff City's Tommy O'Sullivan has joined Port Vale on a one-month deal, subject to international clearance.

SALAH LATEST: The latest news coming from Italy is that Mohamed Salah's proposed 18-month loan switch to Fiorentina has now been completed. We're still awaiting official confirmation on that one, but will bring you any developments as soon as they emerge.

News for Leeds United fans, but it isn't an incoming transfer for the Championship outfit. They have parted company with David Norris, terminating his contract at the club by mutual consent.

A little more on Aaron Lennon, who is understood to be on the verge of joining Everton today. The deal would be a loan move with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season, according to reports.

DONE DEAL! There has been a move down in League Two as goalkeeper Lenny Pidgeley has swapped Newport County for Mansfield Town. Find out more about that transfer here.

Carlton Cole is another Premier League player who could be on the move within the next couple of hours, with West Bromwich Albion close to a deal for the striker. He is currently at the club's training ground as he looks to complete a transfer from West Ham United.

Over to Serie A now, and Juventus have agreed a deal to sign 20-year-old Empoli defender Daniele Rugani in the summer. You can find the full story on that move here.

DONE DEALS! More completed deals from the Championship as struggling duo Millwall and Blackpool have both strengthened their sides in the last few moments. The Lions have brought in Jordan Archer on loan from Spurs, while Tom Aldred has joined Blackpool from Accrington Stanley on a permanent basis.

LENNON LATEST: Aaron Lennon has been one of the biggest names floating around today, and he seems to be edging towards a move to Everton now. Hull City and Stoke City have both been linked with a move for the winger, but he appears to have chosen the Toffees and we expect that deal to be completed by the 11pm deadline.

A little more on that news that Southampton's business may not be done. Rumours are beginning to circulate that, in addition to looking for a midfield signing, they could look to make Ryan Bertrand's loan move permanent. The full-back was sent off against Swansea City on Sunday but has been one of the Saints' most consistent performers this season.

One of the biggest stories still to reach a conclusion on deadline day is the continuing saga over Darren Fletcher. He is understood to be on the way to West Bromwich Albion for a medical ahead of a potential move from Manchester United.

Down to League One, and Coventry City have completed their second signing of deadline day. They bring in Luke Williams on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season. The full story on that one can be found here.

Recent history suggests that this is about the time when Spurs start doing their business, and the rumour mill is hotting up! Midfield starlet Dele Alli is having the final part of his medical ahead of a loan-back move from MK Dons, but there could yet be a more high-profile arrival at White Hart Lane this evening.

With Stoke and Hull now out of the race, Everton are the favourites to sign Aaron Lennon and Sky Sports News claim that Kevin Mirallas could be going the other way. The Belgian has delayed contract talks with the Toffees and would allegedly jump at the chance to move to Tottenham.

Burnley may have reignited their interest in Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury, but Reds chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has responded by declaring that nobody will be leaving the City Ground tonight. Forest sacked Stuart Pearce and quickly appointed Dougie Freedman as their manager yesterday.

Southampton were hoping to make two signings today. They saw their move for Feyenoord midfielder Tonny Vilhena collapse this afternoon, but Sky Sports News understands that the loan arrival of Filip Djuricic from Benfica is still very much on the cards. "As good as done", was how they phrased it.

West Ham defender Winston Reid has been one of the most talked-about players of this window, and he could yet be on the move. The latest speculation is that Everton are trying to negotiate a swap deal involving Reid and Sylvain Distin, who was believed to be on Sam Allardyce's radar as the Hammers boss searched for defensive cover in the loan market. Liverpool and Spurs have also been linked with Reid.

Another of the Championship promotion chasers seem to be closing in on their prime deadline-day target. Sky Sports News reports that Hull winger Tom Ince is on his way to Derby County to finalise details of a loan move until the end of the season. The Rams are looking to replace Jordan Ibe after he was recalled by Liverpool last month, and Ince, who was on loan at rivals Nottingham Forest before Christmas, fits the bill.

Bournemouth have finally given up on their pursuit of Birmingham forward Demarai Gray, having had no fewer than five bids rejected during this transfer window. Read more on their surrender here.

It is just worth noting that it has all gone quiet on the Mohamed Salah front. The Egyptian was expected to join Fiorentina on an 18-month loan as part of the Cuadrado deal, but there was no mention of the winger in Chelsea's official statement upon finally signing the Colombian. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

DONE DEAL! There has now been official confirmation of a deal that was first mooted early this morning, with full-back Davide Santon leaving Newcastle to join Inter Milan on loan with a view to a permanent transfer. A £5m package including add-ons has apparently been agreed, but is taking a while to process. Newcastle and Aston Villa had previously been keen on 18-year-old Alli, who has 12 goals this season.

While Lennon is digging his heels in, there could still be some last-minute departures from Tottenham. Leicester have enquired about midfielder Etienne Capoue, but may be pipped to his signature by West Bromwich Albion, who have moved into 1/4 with SkyBet to sign the Frenchman.

HULL LATEST: Shifting Aaron Lennon is proving difficult for Spurs. The winger has reportedly turned down a loan move to Stoke, and now Hull have admitted defeat in their attempts to sign him, according to Sky Sports News. Steve Bruce is still hopeful of concluding some business before the deadline, with a deal for Lokomotiv Moscow's Senegalese striker Dame N'Doye supposedly nearing completion.

The Colombian winger, who starred at last year's World Cup in Brazil, told the club's official website:

"I am very happy and thankful for this opportunity I've been given. This is a great club and honestly it is like a dream to join the Chelsea family and to know that the manager believes in me. I'm happy."

He will be staying with the Viola until the summer at least.

LENNON LATEST! Reports are now claiming that Aaron Lennon has turned down a loan to Stoke until the end of the season. Terrors midfielder Gary Mackay-Steven remains a £500,000 target and there is even talk of a sensational late move for Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher! The 30-year-old is available after his move to West Ham collapsed over the weekend.

Rangers fans have largely protested at Mike Ashley's recent investment into the club, but the Newcastle owner may win them over on deadline day. Sky Sports News are claiming that the Magpies could be sending as many as five of their best young players on loan to Glasgow. Curtis Good, Haris Vukic, Gael Bigiramana, Kevin Mbabu, Remie Streete and Facundo Ferreyra are the names being mentioned.

Neil Taylor has been linked with Crystal Palace and West Brom, but Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has insisted that the left-back will be going nowhere in the remaining hours of deadline day.

ANOTHER DEAL! In Germany, Stuttgart have completed the purchase of Serey Die from FC Basel. You might remember him as the Ivorian international who burst into tears during his country's national anthem at the World Cup in Brazil.

DONE DEAL! Back to Italy now... AC Milan have announced another signing in the shape of left-back Luca Antonelli from Genoa. The defender is to wear the number 13 shirt after agreeing on a contract that runs until June 2018.

AGREEMENT REACHED! Back to the Santon fable. Sky Sports News reports that Newcastle and Inter have now struck up an agreement for the full-back to move on loan to the Serie A outfit for the remainder of the campaign.

More speculation for you as we await some concrete news on more completed deals. A journalist at the Manchester Evening News says that Stoke could try and secure Rickie Lambert on loan until the end of the season:

Traction is increasing with Southampton's Duricic story. The Benfica man is in talks with the club over a loan move until the end of the season. The player's agent is refusing to confirm that a deal has been done, but Sky Sports News believes that talks are progressing in order to seal something by the end of today.

Swansea City fans have been hopeful of the club bringing in midfielder Alexandru Maxim from Stuttgart this window, but it appears that the German club's sporting director has said that the 24-year-old is not going anywhere.

Still a deal to be done at Leicester as Huth looks to finalise a loan move to Nigel Pearson's side. Sky Sports News is reporting that the centre-back is already training with the Foxes!

Aaron Lennon has long been tipped to join Hull on loan this month. However, a variety of sources are now suggesting that the Tottenham winger is having second thoughts about joining the Tigers because of their current league position. It is thought that Lennon is considering other options.

Going back to that Brus move to Sheffield Wednesday; the striker has signed on a three-and-a-half-year-deal at Hillsborough for an undisclosed fee.

Blackburn fans have been viewing this window as a bit of a potential problem area. The club are finding things financially difficult at the moment, with the club's followers hoping that they can hold on to some of their star players. One such man is striker Rudy Gestede, who is being monitored by a number of clubs.

Following news of Anderson's departure from Manchester United, will we see any further action at Old Trafford? Everton are still rumoured to be keen on a loan move for Januzaj, while Fletcher may look to join West Brom after his deal to West Ham fell through.

Some developments from Germany: BBC Sport's Ben Smith has written the following:

"We can now report that Chelsea forward Andrew Schurrle has agreed personal terms with Wolfsburg. Clubs now finalising their agreement."

DONE DEAL! Sky Sports News is reporting that Sheffield Wednesday have now sealed a deal for 22-year-old striker Sergiu Bus from CSKA Sofia.

Several sources are reporting that Burnley have now made a £3m bid for West Brom midfielder Graham Dorrans, while a Championship club is also considered to be in the mix.

As we know, Southampton are looking to bring in midfielder Vilhena from Feyenoord. According to the Daily Mail, the Rotterdam club will require a bid of around £5m from the Saints to secure the player's transfer. The Premier League side are thought to value Vilhena at around £3m.

Murmurs in the Championship! The league's official Twitter feed is stating that Bolton Wanderers are in talks over a proposed move for Maastricht defender Nick Kuipers, while Blackpool want to seal a deal for Carlisle youngster Brad Potts.

Scottish side Hamilton are trying to make best use of the freebie option today. It is thought that they've now agreed a contract with 21-year-old Nico Sumsky, who recently left Slovakian club Dukla Banska Bystrica. The club are awaiting international clearance before completing the signing.

Some more interesting reporting from Sky Sports News around the situation at Reading. We know that those at the Madejski are hunting out a striker, with the news source suggesting that the club are seeking out a move for former Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni, who is apparently somewhere in the UK today.

DEALS! A few more deals coming in... Denny Johnstone has joined Cheltenham Town on loan from Birmingham City, while Hearts have signed midfielder Kenny Anderson from Dutch side RKC Waalwijk.

Over in Italy, reports are circulating that AC Milan are close to securing former Liverpool defender Gabriel Paletta. It is thought that the player is in the process of a medical and a deal should be done to take him away from Parma.

Sky sources are also lighting a flame under the idea that QPR could look to bring in Blackburn Rovers midfield prospect Josh Morris today. We'll bring you more on that when we have it.

A press conference has been called at Wolfsburg for around 11.30am (UK). Could it be that the club has agreed on a move for Schurrle? If so, that could potentially set in motion Chelsea's move for Cuadrado.

DONE DEAL! First deal of the day... Twenty-year-old midfielder Charis Mavrias has now left Sunderland for Panathiniakos on loan.

Hmm... Confusion in Newcastle by the looks of it. Keith Downie of Sky Sports News says that the club has said that no deal is currently in place with Inter. Santon has since removed a post he put up on Facebook earlier this morning declaring that he is heading back to Italy on loan.

We all know that West Brom are keen on a midfielder, one Sky Sports News reporter has laid claim to the idea that Pulis could be exploring the option of Tottenham's holding man Etienne Capoue.

No major moves at Tottenham Hotspur thus far, but they've just come good by announcing that star forward Harry Kane has put pen to paper on a new five-and-a-half year deal.

If Leeds are to offload Austin to Wigan, they'll need someone to replace him. BBC West Yorkshire Sport reports that United might be interested in a move for Catania's Edgar Cani.

More on Gomis... The Daily Mail is now reporting that the striker would be keen on a move to the Hammers. You'd have to think that Swansea would be incredibly reluctant to sell him following the departure of Bony. They've earned enough transfer income this month and also need options in attack.

In the Championship, Wigan Athletic are trying to bolster their striking options as they look to move away from the base of the table. Sky Sports sources have alluded to a potential £500,000 deal to bring in Leeds United frontman Rodolph Austin.

A few sources are stating that Sunderland are all set to offload Charalampos Mavrias back to his former club Panathinaikos on loan.

QPR's Tony Fernandes has moved to add some more colour to this Deadline Day. The club's owner has suggested via Twitter that he doesn't plan to make any moves, but has also left us hanging by stating that he'd always be intrigued if something interesting was available:

"No more cheque book. We have good players. Bought all the players manager asked for in summer. Our players not mercenaries. Good guys. If something interesting comes up we would look at it. But I'm not optimistic. Given the right motivation tactics and coaching we can achieve much more."

Wolverhampton Wanderers fans might be a little downhearted following the news that boss Kenny Jackett has all but ruled out any business at Molineux today. That could also be a blessing in disguise, however, given that a number of clubs have been following the highly-rated Bakary Sako.

As the same broadcaster makes its way around the Premier League grounds, one reporter who is based at Stoke City has revealed that the Potteries are potentially willing to listen to offers for midfielder Wilson Palacios.

Southampton boss Koeman has stated that he wants to bring in one player today. Sky Sports News says that the club is currently pursuing two options. One is a loan move for Benfica's Filip Duricic, who is currently being lent to German side Mainz 05. Elsewhere, the Saints also hold an interest in Dutch midfielder Tonny Vilhena.

We expected a rather quiet day at Old Trafford, but it appears that midfielder Anderson has finally found somebody to take him away from Manchester. His teammate Juan Mata has just posted a long entry on his blog, which includes the following line:

"Also, I want to wish good luck to my friend Anderson, who is back to football in his native Brazil. All the best, my friend!"

More information on Santon to Inter. The Newcastle full-back has posted the following message on his Facebook page:

"Life is strange. I never expected to return. Thanks Newcastle and thanks to all the fans for these three and a half years together. This city and this team will always remain in my heart. I start a new adventure. I'm happy to return to Inter. There I started my career and there I lived so many important moments."

It's been well documented that Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been in the market for a back-up goalkeeper. A number of sources have stated that the Toffees could look to make a move for Molde stopper Orjan Nyland, who was originally on trial at the side in 2008.

'What's happening in Ligue 1?' I hear you ask. Well, it looks like Marseille are attempting to bring in Monaco's 20 year-old Argentine midfielder Lucas Ocampos on loan until the end of the season. Further down the leagues, a number of European clubs including West Brom and Ajax are thought to be monitoring Ligue 2's top scorer Jonathan Kodjia.

Some news now from the Liberty Stadium. According to Sky Sources, West Ham United made a £7m bid for Bafetimbi Gomis at some point in the last month. It is thought that the bid has been declined by the club.

Further developments on the Huth-to-Leicester bandwagon. Sky Sports News is currently reporting that the centre-back is now at Leicester's training ground ahead of a proposed loan switch.

Finally, are we close to a Deadline Day deal? Well, it appears that Newcastle United full-back Davide Santon is to return to his former club Inter Milan on loan until the end of the season. BBC Sport says that the deal includes an option to make the move permanent come the end of the current campaign.

Ronny Deila could be in for a busy afternoon, then. More news now that the Celtic boss is also keen on Northern Ireland Under-21 winger Michael Duffy. The Herald reports that the club hopes to agree personal terms with the Derry City 20-year-old by the close of the window. The player has already been on trial twice at Celtic Park.

Up in Scotland the Daily Record is suggesting that Celtic could look to make a last-minute move for Crystal Palace midfielder Barry Bannan. It is understood that Alan Pardew has agreed to allow the striker to leave the club on loan. More news on anything concrete when we get it, though.

The most enterprising side from the Premier League this month is Swansea, who have brought in three new faces recently.

There has been plenty of action in the lower league's during this window. As it stands, Millwall, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town have signed seven players each so far and they now lead as English football's busiest units during January.

Much going on at the Etihad this morning? Not really, according to BBC Sport's Phil McNulty. He suggests that City don't expect any incoming transfers today, but they could see some departures. Let's see what happens.

Thanks Daniel. Morning all... While we wait from some news on English soil, let's have a quick look at things in the Bundesliga where the deadline shuts at 5pm (UK). Obviously Schurrle's move to Wolfsburg is the main talking point, but we're also waiting on the news of Chilean midfielder Marcelo Diaz, who is seeking to wrap up a move from Swiss side FC Basel to strugglers Hamburg.

Well that brings to an end my stint on transfer watch for this morning, but be sure to stick around as Chris Dodd takes over the Deadline Day baton through until midday. No completed deals so far today, although that is all expected to change in the coming hours.

Sticking with the Premier League, and it is believed that Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert has ruled out making any knee-jerk signings today following yesterday's crushing defeat at Arsenal. Carles Gil and Scott Sinclair have both arrived to add some attacking intent, but following 10 hours without a goal I'm sure supporters would like at least one more purchase. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Villans.

Well Chelsea have been the most talked about side so far this morning, but how about this for a development... the Daily Mail are reporting that Gary Cahill's future at The Bridge is now under the spotlight. He is expected to remain in West London beyond today, but with Raphael Varane on Jose Mourinho's radar, it is claimed that a shake-up of the backline will take place in the summer months.

Bad news for QPR supporters and transfer lovers across the land - Harry Redknapp has told Sky Sports News that he does not expect to finalise any moves before tonight's deadline. Emmanuel Adebayor was among those linked to Loftus Road, but his reported £100,000-a-week wages means that he is out of the question. Maybe the R's have learned lessons from past mistakes.

We've already learned this morning that Andre Schurrle's move to Wolfsburg is up in the air, but could Mohamed Salah's switch to Fiorentina also be stalling? It is claimed that a dispute over the fee paid for the Egyptian midfielder could see a deal break down, which may stall Juan Cuadrado's arrival at Chelsea. The Deadline Day domino effect has already begun.

In case you missed it in the early hours of this morning, Tottenham Hotspur forward Emmanuel Adebayor is reportedly wanted by a number of Premier League clubs, with Stoke City the latest to join the growing list. However, it is rumoured that no deal is close to being completed. With more than 14 hours to go until the window slams shut (or gently closes, if you'd rather), we can expect some more developments on that particular transfer story throughout the day.

Yes, Mr. Willis. Yes you can.

Not for the first time this window, Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are rumoured to be tracking the same player. The latest of which being Real Madrid star Asier Illarramendi, who is said to be an £18m Deadline Day target for the Reds. More on that can be found right here.

Could Kevin Mirallas be heading for the Everton exit door? Some reports overnight suggest that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in taking the Belgian schemer, although BBC Sport suggest that the Toffees are not looking to offload a key member of their squad. A move in the summer, it is claimed, is the more likely option at this stage.

A side under new ownership this week, Sheffield Wednesday, are rumoured to be hopeful of taking Manchester United defender Marnick Vermijl on a permanent deal, while also capturing a loan move for Watford's Lewis McGugan.

It seems that only a few minutes pass by before West Bromwich Albion are linked with a new name, and the latest to add to the growing list is Carlton Cole. The Baggies, who brought in Callum McManaman last week, are also said to be hopeful of landing Carlton Cole and Darren Fletcher among others.

Dele Alli is shaping up to be the poster boy of the 2015 Winter Transfer Dealine Day. We told you an hour ago how Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United were hoping to land the youngster, well BBC Sport claims that it is the Magpies who are in pole position to sign the midfielder, although Spurs are said to be "quietly confident" of getting their man before the 11pm deadline. Watch this space.

BREAKING NEWS! Some news has emerged in the last few minutes via Sky Sports claiming that West Ham United's Joe Cole is poised to sign an 18-month deal at West Bromwich Albion for a nominal fee. If reports are to be believed, then Tony Pulis - who arrived at the club's training ground a short while ago - will be a busy man on Deadline Day.

Speaking of Leicester, their capture of Andrej Kramaric remains one of the highest-profile deals of the window so far. Carles Gil's £3m switch to Aston Villa is another, while Krystian Bielik at Arsenal looks to be one for the future.

Wilfried Bony's £28m move from Swansea City to Manchester City is not likely to be matched or bettered in the next 15 hours or so, however, so the Premier League champions can lay claim to being the window's biggest spenders in terms of individual deals.

Sky Sports News suggest that Robert Huth's switch from Stoke City to Leicester City is "very close" to being completed. The experienced German defender will certainly bolster the Foxes' options at the back, but can they get a deal over the line in time?

Switching to the Championship now, and Reading boss Steve Clark has revealed that he could be in the market for a new face or two on Deadline Day. One of their league rivals in Cardiff City are also said to be looking to recruit another new player following a mass-exodus in recent weeks.

Here's a little more on that big Andre Schurrle story we brought you a little earlier. The German World Cup winner's move to Wolfsburg appears to have stalled, and the Bundesliga side have had their say on the matter this morning. Click here to read more.

Okay, it is nearly 8am which means that it is time to bring you a roundup of all the events from over the past 12 hours or so with our Transfer Talk Update. What is the latest regarding the futures of Wesley Sneijder, Adnan Januzaj and Emmanuel Adebayor? Click the link and find out for yourself.

One transfer story that caught the eye yesterday afternoon was Morgan Schneiderlin's rumoured switch from Southampton to Arsenal. French publication L'Equipe claim that a deal is in place for the midfielder to move to the Emirates stadium in the summer.

Rio Ferdinand has just tweeted that he doesn't expect any moves over the £10m mark to go through today. I wouldn't bet on it, Rio. We are fast entering the final 15 hours of the window now, and already #DeadlineDay has cemented itself as top trend in Britain. The biannual feeding frenzy is not one to be missed!

It is not fully known whether Schurrle's move has any baring on whether Juan Cuadrado signs for Chelsea, with the club needing to balance the books and free up a space in the squad, and likewise with Mohamed Salah's switch in the opposite direction to Fiorentina. An interesting development nonetheless, which may have a major seismic shift elsewhere.

DEVELOPMENT: We finally have an update on one of the trio of transfers expected to take place at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. Andre Schurrle's move to Wolfsburg looked to be all-but done bar dotting the i's and crossing the t's, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

The German club's sporting director Klaus Allofs has told Wolfsburger Nachrichten that "time is running out" for a deal to be finalised, and that there are "less and less options from hour to hour". Interesting. More on that to follow in due course.

Still no official movement this morning, but speculation is already in overdrive. It is believed that Cesena winger Gregoire Defrel is close to agreeing a move to West Bromwich Albion. Matt Jarvis and Darren Fletcher are also reported targets for the Baggies, who are looking to strengthen under new boss Tony Pulis.

Hull City appear to be in real trouble at the moment, not least after going down 3-0 against Newcastle United this weekend, and widespread reports suggest that Steve Bruce could be the busiest manager in the window today. Aaron Lennon is among those Bruce is interested in landing, although the English winger is not so keen.

There's still very little to bring you concerning the Chelsea futures of Andre Schurrle, Juan Cuadrado and Mohamed Salah. All three moves appear to be on course to go through at some stage this afternoon, and I guess the lack of news suggests that things appear to be heading in the right direction.

There is some reported interest in striker Rickie Lambert, however, who is said to be wanted by Crystal Palace, Hull City, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers. The England international has repeatedly made clear that he wants to fight for his Anfield future, though, so any move seems unlikely to take place before the summer.

What about events at Liverpool? They have barely been mentioned thus far, and that is with good reason because an array of publications are suggesting that Brendan Rodgers has completed his business with a grand total of zero new recruits. Six players have left the club since the start of January, meanwhile, the most noteworthy of which being the double exit of Oussama Assaidi and Suso.

Interestingly, The Sun are running with a story claiming that Manchester United have had a £35m bid turned down by Paris Saint-Germain for Brazilian defender Marquinhos. The Brazilian may be struggling to hold down a place in the centre of the French outfit's defence, but that hasn't stopped the club slapping a £100m+ price tag on his head. United doubling their rumoured first bid should just about cut it.

It is not just the Premier League we are focusing on today, but also teams right across the Football League. Charlton Athletic, now under new management of course, are said to be preparing a Deadline Day bid for Portsmouth midfielder Jed Wallace.

TRANSFER TALLY: There's still a long way to go, particularly with Deadline Day generally the busiest of the lot, but so far we have seen a total of £78,450,000 spent. At which stage today will we break into nine figures?

Celtic's Virgil van Dijk is another to have been linked with an array of Premier League clubs over the past four weeks or so, but he looks to be staying put at the Scottish champions.

Following his side's victory over Rangers yesterday, he told reporters: "Interest is fine, it's always good to have people watching you but I can do nothing with interest and it looks like Celtic don't want to sell me so it looks like I'm staying here."

The Daily Mail are now also running with the Dele Alli to Tottenham story, so there may well be some substance to it. Newcastle and Aston Villa have also been linked with the 18-year-old midfielder, while you may remember Liverpool were rumoured to be tracking him last summer. This one could shape up to be a tasty tussle - everyone loves a Deadline Day tug-of-war.

That just leaves long-serving midfielder Darren Fletcher, who was all set for a switch to West Ham United over the weekend before a move broke down to the surprise of LVG. One team's loss is another's gain, right? Well West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen to take the Scottish international on a Bosman free.

But what about the likes of Adnan Januzaj, Darren Fletcher and Anderson? Well the Manchester Evening News reports that the former of that trio could end up at Everton on loan by the end of this evening, while Brazilian midfielder Anderson is 'in talks with Internacional'.

If Louis van Gaal is to be believed then very little movement is to take place at Old Trafford throughout the course of today. Manchester United spent big in the summer, of course, so it will not be too surprising if the free transfer of Victor Valdes remains their only piece of business.

HARRY REDKNAPP WATCH: We are still yet to see 'Arry hanging out of his car window, but he is still making his journey from the South Coast to West London. Mauro Zarate and Ryan Manning are the only two recruits to arrive at the R's so far - a side we can usually rely on for some Deadline Day entertainment - with Redknapp admitting earlier this week that he is "struggling" to bring in new faces.

Ian Abrahams of talkSPORT has just claimed that Spurs could allow Vlad Chiriches, Younes Kaboul & Emmanuel Adebayor to leave on loan today, while Dele Alli may arrive from MK Dons. Kaboul was of course named as club captain at the start of the season, but Mauricio Pochettino may now be looking to offload the former Portsmouth defender on a temporary basis.

Well 11pm may be the cut-off point for deals to officially go through in the English league system (although as we have seen with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Dimitar Berbatov in recent times, that means little), but what about elsewhere?

France also close up shop for any deals to go through at 11pm, while it is 5pm for teams in Germany to get things done - I hope Chelsea got the memo with Andre Schurrle expected to arrive at Wolfsburg later today.

Holland have also set an 11pm deadline, while it is an hour later at midnight in Scotland. Interestingly, the Portuguese transfer window remains open until Wednesday. Should teams want to recruit from Russia, meanwhile, they have a full month to do so.

RECAP: In terms of the biggest deal so far this window, that honour goes to Wilfried Bony who made a £28m switch from Swansea City to Manchester City. He has yet to play a single game for the Premier League champions due to international commitments, but there is no doubt he will add a great deal to the Ethiad club.

We have also seen Arsenal spend big to land Gabriel from Villarreal over the past week. He says he joined the club to "win the biggest titles" - if that is to be the case you suspect that another big signing will have to go through before now and 11pm.

Salah is likely to move to the Serie A outfit on an initial loan deal, before a permanent move is thrashed out in the summer should all parties be happy. He is to undergo a medical in Florence some time this afternoon, which could then signal the green light for Cuadrado to sign on the dotted line.

That just leaves one more piece to the title-winning puzzle... Mohamed Salah's departure. It's fair to say that the Egyptian has not quite made the desired impact since joining from Basle 12 months ago, failing to start a single Premier League game this campaign. Jose Mourinho is now likely to cash in with the flop winger heading the opposite way to Fiorentina.

Cuadrado, who was heavily linked with Manchester United last summer following a fine showing at the World Cup, paid an emotional tribute to Fiorentina supporters earlier this week with a message on Instagram. From Florence to West London, the 26-year-old's move is not expected to hit any late snags, so we will bring you confirmation of that switch as and when it goes through.

A £22.5m deal is said to have been agreed between Chelsea and the Bundesliga title challengers, which frees up some money to finally land Juan Cuadrado. We are expecting that to be the big transfer of the day, with a fee in the region of £27m to be paid for the Colombian winger.

It will be interesting to see how events at Stamford Bridge unfold throughout the course of Deadline Day. Nine players have left the club so far since the beginning of January, seven of those on loan, while Andre Schurrle is expected to complete his move to Wolfsburg in the coming hours.

Speaking of Southampton, we heard from manager Ronald Koeman in the aftermath of yesterday's disappointing defeat at the hands of Swansea City, and he admitted that the club were hoping to sign "at least one player" at some stage today. The Saints have so far recruited Eljero Elia - who made a massive impact on his debut - while three men have left the club.

While Aaron Lennon and Emannuel Adebayor look to be on their way out, we brought you news yesterday regarding a potential triple swoop for the North London outfit. The pick of the bunch was no doubt a big-money move for Southampton's Jay Rodriguez, who has certainly been linked with his fair share of sides over the past 12 months. Could he finally be on his way from St Mary's today?

That small selection of overnight stories suggests that things could be busy at White Hart Lane throughout the course of today. Tottenham Hotspur are yet to have brought anyone in during this window, but Mauricio Pochettino may be looking to strengthen his squad ahead of tonight's deadline in order to push on from what has been a solid campaign to date.

It's still early days, of course, so let's begin by taking a quick look at some of the stories making the headlines overnight:

- Report: Stoke City join race to sign Emmanuel Adebayor on loan

- Everton to launch loan move for Adnan Januzaj?

- Aaron Lennon to snub Hull City move?

Our team of reporters will be here right into the early hours of tomorrow morning ensuring that you don't miss a thing, whether it is a record-breaking deal involving two European heavyweight sides or a somewhat low-key transaction between lower league outfits, so be sure to stick right here.

Last year's Deadline Day proved to be the busiest in terms of deals being completed, and with many questions still left unanswered that is likely to be the case once more throughout the course of today.

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live transfer blog on what is one of the highlights of the football calendar - Transfer Deadline Day. That's right, for four weeks now we have seen plenty of moves go through, yet as we enter the final 16 hours or so things will no doubt well and truly heat up.
