Sale Sharks too strong for Northampton Saints

Sale Sharks score three first-half tries to set up a 19-6 win over Northampton Saints in the Aviva Premiership.

Three first-half tries have given Sale Sharks a comfortable 19-6 win over Aviva Premiership leaders Northampton Saints this afternoon.

Will Hooley put the visitors ahead just three minutes in for a penalty, but Mark Cueto soon cancelled it out for Sale with a seventh-minute try.

Marc Jones and Tom Brady were able to extend the hosts' lead with two tries in the space of six minutes shortly before the break.

Both sides were reduced to 14 men for a spell either side of half time after Dylan Hartley and Sam Tuitupou were involved in an altercation following Jones's try.

Neither team was able to add to their score in the second half, moving Sale up to fifth in the table, while Northampton remain top but could be overtaken by Saracens later today.
