Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger suggests that defender Nacho Monreal could miss the club's next four matches with a back injury.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that Nacho Monreal could miss the club's next four matches after sustaining a back injury during Sunday's EFL Cup final.

During the first half of the 3-0 defeat at Wembley Stadium, Monreal needed to be replaced by Sead Kolasinac and Wenger has suggested that the Spaniard could be absent until the middle of March.

At a press conference, the Frenchman told reporters: "He is out for the two games - this weekend. He might be out for two more - Milan and maybe one more."

Arsenal face Manchester City and Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this week, before travelling to San Siro to face AC Milan in the first leg of their last-16 tie in the Europa League.

A home fixture with Watford follows on March 11, before the Gunners host Milan in the return game in Europe four days later.

Monreal has made 27 starts for Arsenal in all competitions this season.
