Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has stated that he understands why he has been rested in the Champions League.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has picked David Ospina in the competition so far, playing in defeats against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos, although the Colombian has been blamed for the latter after spilling the ball over his own line to give the Greeks a 2-0 lead.
Cech has admitted that, while he would like to play every game, it is not possible due to the number of fixtures in a season.
"In the modern game it's almost impossible for you to play so many competitions and there are days where you need to get rest and mentally refreshed," the London Evening Standard quotes him as saying.
"At Arsenal you hope to play 60 games in a season, which means you continue in every competition until the end, until the finals, to challenge for the trophies and medals.
"This is where you need to make sure everyone is refreshed and ready for the longevity of the season."
Cech joined Arsenal from Chelsea for £10m during the summer.
