Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo after sending scouts to watch him just days ago.
Mikel Arteta's side had a £21m bid rejected on the final day of the summer transfer window as they turned their attention away from Douglas Luiz, according to reports from Brazil.
However, the Brazilian side did not want to sell one of their biggest talents in the middle of their Copa Libertadores campaign.
That campaign is over now due to a 3-2 aggregate loss in the semi-finals to Athletico Paranaense and Brazilian outlet Bola VIP reports that the move is close to being finalised for the 21-year-old.
Danilo can play as a six or an eight so would provide depth for both Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka, with Arsenal thought to be in the market for midfield reinforcements due to speculation over the futures of Albert Sambi Lokonga and Mohamed Elneny.
At this moment, interest in the youngster is concrete but there are no indications that a potential move is likely.
