Arsene Wenger is facing a crisis in the middle of the park, with Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere ruled out for around two and three months respectively.

According to the Daily Star, the Gunners are looking to address this shortage in midfield by making a bid for the 25-year-old Frenchman in the next transfer window.

Sissoko signed for Newcastle from French outfit Toulouse in January 2013.
