Dimitar Berbatov: 'Monaco were stronger than Toulouse'

Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov believes his side were deserving winners following their 2-0 defeat of Toulouse in week 17 of the Ligue 1 season.

Monaco striker Dimitar Berbatov insisted that his side fully deserved their 2-0 victory over Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Friday.

The 33-year-old frontman proved to be the difference as he secured a brace with goals either side of half time to help continue Monaco's resurgence of late.

"It's an important victory and one we deserved because we were stronger than Toulouse," Berbatov told reporters after the game, according to the official Ligue 1 website.

"We'll head home happy. Now we've got another important match coming up, one which could allow us to qualify for the next stage of the Champions League. Tuesday's game wasn't in our heads, but we were thinking about it and that's normal.

"Now the Toulouse match is over and we've won it we can now start thinking about the next game."

The victory moves Monaco into seventh position in the Ligue 1 table, on 26 points from 17 games.
