Atletico Madrid make Georgios Samaras offer?

Speculation links Celtic's Georgios Samaras with a switch to La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.

Spanish side Atletico Madrid are reportedly keen to sign Celtic attacker Georgios Samaras.

The Greek international is due to become a free agent this summer and as a result he is now permitted to discuss terms with other clubs.

Hull City have been linked with a £1m swoop for the 28-year-old in the coming weeks, while Lazio are also said to be monitoring the situation.

However, Atletico boss Diego Simeone has attempted to steal a march on other potential suitors by making contact with the former Manchester City frontman, according to the Daily Mail.

The report added that it is unknown whether Atletico are looking to recruit Samaras this month, or if they are prepared to wait until the summer when a transfer fee would not be required.

Samaras joined Celtic from City back in 2008.
