Cesc Fabregas has urged his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi to return to Camp Nou.
Messi left Barcelona last summer to join Paris Saint-Germain, but the Argentine continues to be linked with a return to the La Liga club.
Barcelona club president Joan Laporta recently signalled his intent to re-sign the 34-year-old, however, reports suggest that Messi has become annoyed with Laporta's statements, which could prevent a potential return.
Although there appears to be a strained relationship between Messi and Laporta, former Barcelona player Fabregas is keen for the Argentina international to re-sign with the Catalonian giants.
Speaking to reporters, Fabregas said: "As a Barcelona fan, I hope and I wish that Messi returns to Barcelona. He has one year left of his contract in Paris.
"I would love it if he returned. It is a dream that the club and all the fans have, but I speak to you as a fan of Barcelona."
While Messi is beginning his second season with PSG - which has already yielded a French Super Cup win - Fabregas is preparing for a campaign with Serie B club Como, where he has also become part-owner.
