Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that the Catalan giants will soon sit down with Ousmane Dembele's representatives to discuss a new deal for the Frenchman.
The 24-year-old's existing contract at Camp Nou is due to expire next June, meaning that, as it stands, he would be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs in January.
Dembele has recently been handed the number seven shirt at Barcelona, though, and Laporta has said that the club's director of football will soon sit down with the attacker's agent.
"Mateu [Alemany] told me that a meeting with his representative is being organised," Sport quotes Laporta as saying. "The relationship with Ousmane is very good, he feels loved and we want him to continue.
"He's told me that he really wants to return to the pitch and wear the Barcelona shirt. With the help of everyone we're going to ensure that this player, who has great quality, gets back playing and playing often, ensure that the bad moments don't happen again.
"The club has a plan to make sure that Ousmane can show his talent and his quality."
Dembele is yet to turn out for Barcelona this season due to a knee injury that he picked up while representing France at this summer's European Championship.
