Iceland international Aron Gunnarsson has signed a new two-year contract with Championship outfit Cardiff City.
The 23-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in the second tier of English football, has scored seven goals in 39 appearances for the Welsh outfit this season.
"Cardiff City football club are pleased to confirm that Aron Gunnarsson has today signed a two-year contract extension until 2016," read a statement on the club's official website.
"Aron signed the deal while on duty with Iceland ahead of their World Cup 2014 group E qualifier in Slovenia on Friday night."
Gunnarsson joined Cardiff from Coventry in 2011.
