John Obi Mikel: 'We're still behind Jose Mourinho'

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel insists that under-fire Jose Mourinho remains the right man to manage the club.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has insisted that Jose Mourinho is still the right man to manage the club, despite their dismal run of form continuing.

The defending Premier League champions lost for the sixth time this season on Saturday as Liverpool beat them 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho's future with the Blues has faced intense scrutiny over the past few weeks, but Mikel has stated that the Chelsea players are fully behind the Portuguese coach.

"Jose knows this club more than any other manager," Mikel told The Times.

"He's the most successful manager in the club's history. Last year we were champions and we won two trophies so if anything is wrong, if anything can be fixed, he is the one to do it.

"There's no one out there that is going to come in and fix what's going on. If you tell the team that we are not giving 100% then there is the doubt, but we are giving 100%."

Mourinho's second spell as Chelsea manager began in the summer of 2013.
