Steve Davis: 'Crewe Alexandra are stronger this season'

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis says that the club's current squad is stronger than last season.

Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has said that the club's current squad is stronger than last season.

Despite losing captain Luke Murphy to Leeds United, the Gresty Road side have brought in Vadaine Oliver, Lee Molyneux and Thierry Audel.

Davis believes that his players will have benefited from the experience of last season, when they finished 13th in their first term back in League One.

"The squad has more experience, the majority of them have played in League One now and we have more versatility," Davis told Crewe's official website.

"We have players who can play in various positions and in different roles and that gives us a chance to play differently if needs be."

Crewe also won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy last season.
