Joe Hart urges England to be "ruthless" at Euro 2016

England goalkeeper Joe Hart urges his teammates to learn from their mistakes at the World Cup two years ago and be more "ruthless" at both ends of the field.

England goalkeeper Joe Hart has called on his teammates to be "ruthless" at both ends of the field during their Euro 2016 campaign.

The Three Lions suffered a disappointing group-stage exit at the World Cup in Brazil two years ago, falling to narrow defeats against Italy and Uruguay to seal their fate.

Hart believes that their lack of a cutting edge was the difference between winning and losing in those games, and urged the team not to make the same mistakes in France this summer.

"Playing to a decent standard sometimes isn't enough - we have got to be really ruthless [at] both ends of the pitch," Hart told reporters.

"It's an obvious thing, that doesn't differ from Premier League football or Capital One Cup football, but it's the thing that probably stood out the most in the two games we lost in the World Cup.

"We could have walked off easily with two victories but we didn't and that's the most important thing."

England begin their Euro 2016 campaign against Russia on Saturday.
