England youngsters Luke Shaw and Thomas Ince withdraw from Under-21 duty through injury ahead of Tuesday's friendly against Scotland.

Thomas Ince and Luke Shaw have both pulled out of the England Under-21 squad for Tuesday's friendly against Scotland through injury.

Both starlets were picked by England manager Roy Hodgson for the friendly at Bramall Lane, but have withdrawn today after suffering with fitness concerns.

Shaw limped out of Southampton's friendly against Real Sociedad with a knee injury, leaving Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino sweating over for the full-back's fitness ahead of next weekend's Premier League kickoff.

Ince missed Blackpool's win over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday through suspension, with a persistent groin problem his reason for withdrawing from international duty.

Hodgson will now plan for his first match in charge of the youth side without a key duo, with his temporary under-21 role beginning at St George's Park earlier today in a training session.
