Everton defender Sylvain Distin is reportedly close to signing a new one-year contract extension at the club.
The French defender's current deal expires in the summer and there has been confusion as to whether he would settle for less than a two-year negotiation.
Distin, however, has always maintained his commitment to the club and indicated in September that he is ready to commit for another 12 months.
Talks between the player's agent and the Goodison board have progressed amicably with the powerful defender on the brink of putting pen to paper.
The 33-year-old arrived at Everton from Portsmouth in 2009.
