Germany coach Joachim Low has called up Jonathan Tah into his 23-man Euro 2016 squad after Antonio Rudiger was forced out due to injury.
The Roma defender was ruled out of the tournament on Tuesday after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a training session.
Now, Low has opted to bring in Bayer Leverkusen's Tah, who has been capped four times by the world champions.
"It's very unfortunate [for Rudiger] to pick up such a bad injury on the first day of training," Low told reporters. "I feel very sorry for him. We have decided to call up Jonathan Tah. We wanted to replace Rudiger with a centre-back."
There are still doubts over Mats Hummels's fitness, but Low has claimed that the Bayern Munich defender has 'increased intensity' in his training.
