Hamburger SV defender Paul Scharner has insisted that he wants to stay at the club in order to prove himself.
The 33-year-old Austrian, who is under contract until 2014, was recently told by officials that he is free to leave this summer.
"I have not been given fair opportunity by the club," Scharner told Kicker-Sportmagazin.
"Without a fair chance to prove myself I will not be leaving by choice. I am an experienced player. I know anything can happen throughout a campaign."
Scharner spent the second half of last season on loan at his former club Wigan Athletic.
