Liverpool have reportedly given up any hope of signing Barcelona's Gavi in the summer transfer window.
The 17-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Camp Nou, making 46 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
Gavi's impressive performances caught the eye of a number of clubs across Europe, including Premier League giants Liverpool.
The Reds saw the Spanish midfielder as a potential replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is expected to leave Anfield over the course of the summer.
However, according to The Mirror, Gavi is set to begin talks with the Catalan club about a possible extension to his current deal, which runs until 2024.
The Reds were reportedly prepared to trigger Gavi's release clause of €50m (£42.9m), but the renewal of his contract is expected to result in that clause rising to €1bn (£860m), which will end Liverpool's hopes of signing the teenager.
