Rio Ferdinand has had a dig at Manchester City fans, saying that they have 'come out of the woodwork' as a result of the team's success this season.

City are currently second in the Premier League, one point behind local rivals Manchester United.

"Walking around in town, you see more and more blue shirts than you probably ever would have seen over the last 10 years," the defender said.

"But success sometimes brings people out of the woodwork. So fingers crossed we can delay that and make sure we get this title sewn up this season.

"At the moment, if we win all of our remaining games until the end of the season, we will be champions - that's what we're going out to do."

United continue their push for the title with a home fixture against Fulham on Monday evening.
