John Carver urges Newcastle United to make quick head coach appointment

Newcastle United caretaker boss John Carver says that the club must act "quickly" as they seek to appoint a new head coach.

Newcastle United caretaker manager John Carver has expressed his belief that the club cannot wait too much longer to appoint a head coach.

Carver has taken charge of first-team affairs following Alan Pardew's departure to become Crystal Palace boss.

United have reportedly whittled down their shortlist to six candidates, but Carver says that they must act "quickly" for the good of the club.

"We have to get something settled quickly," he told The Chronicle. "Something has to be resolved sooner rather than later, it can't linger on.

"So whether it's with me or with somebody else it has to be done quickly."

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has reportedly stated that he would be interested in taking the job.
