Dougie Freedman pleased with Modou Barrow signing

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman says that he was "all over" the opportunity to bring Modou Barrow to the City Ground on loan from Swansea City.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has said that he was "all over" the opportunity to sign Modou Barrow from Swansea City.

The 22-year-old winger has joined the Championship side on loan for the rest of the season and become Freedman's first signing as Forest boss in the process.

Freedman says that he is delighted to have signed the Gambian, having missed out on him with previous club Bolton Wanderers.

"For my first signing, although it's only a loan, it's one I really wanted to do," he told Forest's official website. "I had him at Bolton for ten days on trial and we tried to sign him. It was no surprise to me that a few months later Swansea snapped him up for considerably more money.

"So when I had the opportunity to sign him a few days ago, I was all over it. There was competition from three other clubs and we had to make sure we showed him what the club's about, what kind of team we've got and how he can express himself coming down into the Championship.

"He's mobile, he's quick, he's got great balance, a wonderful left foot and he can take a goal."

Barrow could make his Forest debut when they face Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.
