R's interim boss Neil Warnock was manager of the West London side when Trani first joined the club. He told the club website: "This is absolutely tragic news. Tommaso was such a lovely, lovely lad.
"When something terrible like this happens it opens everybody's eyes to the fact that football is only a game. There is nothing more important than your health.
"It gives us all a sense of perspective, particularly as he was so young. My thoughts are with his family."
Trani was part of the AC Milan academy before he moved to England.
