Guti: "Real Madrid are not playing well"

Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti claims that Los Blancos are currently struggling to reproduce their early-season form.

Former Real Madrid midfielder Guti believes that the Spanish outfit are currently struggling to find their best form.

Los Blancos are top of La Liga as the final months of the season approach, while they are also in a strong position to make the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Injuries to key midfielders have harmed their flow in recent weeks, however, and Guti believes that the team is lacking "that fifth gear they had in the first few months of the season".

"Real Madrid are not playing well at the moment but I want to see a Madrid that do well against good opponents and dominate possession," Guti told El Chiringuito.

"They don't have that fifth gear they had in the first few months of the season and they are going to suffer against the big teams, those that want the ball.

"The team right now is very flat. They have players in midfield who don't fit the profile of creative footballers."

Guti represented Real Madrid between 1986 and 2010.
