Southampton boss Ronald Koeman satisifed with display despite defeat

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman insists that he was not too disappointed with his side despite their narrow defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has said that he is not despondent following his team's 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Yohan Cabaye scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute to secure the three points for the Eagles, but the visitors wasted several opportunities late in the match to salvage a draw from the contest.

Koeman has admitted that he was frustrated by his side's defeat, but is confident that they will end their poor run of form as long as they keep creating opportunities.

"Of course I'm disappointed about the final result, but I'm not disappointed about the performance of the team," Koeman told BBC Sport.

"The start was difficult and the wind was difficult to play our football. Maybe Palace had an advantage because they, in my opinion, play more direct than us. The second half we were the better team and had the better chances.

"If Shane Long had scored at the end that was 1-1 and that would have been deserved result today. If we weren't creating chances then I'd be very worried."

Southampton dropped to 12th in the Premier League as a result of their defeat.
