Frank Arnesen claims that he would like Rafael van der Vaart back at the club should the Dutch midfielder show any interest.

Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has admitted that he would like former player Rafael van der Vaart back at the club should the Dutch midfielder show any interest.

The future of the Tottenham Hotspur playmaker has been the subject of speculation so far this summer, and Arnesn says that he is waiting for a hint of interest from Van der Vaart.

Speaking to Welt, Arnesen said: "If I get a signal from his end that there might be something, things will be different.

"I don't want to talk about it too much because Van der Vaart has a contract at Tottenham Hotspur until 2015.

"At the moment it is not practical. He is on holiday after the European Championship."

New Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly open to offers for the Dutch playmaker.
