Belgian defender Jan Vertonghen reportedly wants to sign a new deal that would extend his tenure with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 32-year-old has scored 10 goals in 285 appearances for the North London side since joining from Ajax in 2012, but his current contract with the club expires at the end of this season.

According to Football Insider, Vertonghen firmly believes that he has a future with Spurs and is open to signing a new one-year deal.

The Belgian international, who was linked with moves away from England in the summer, is unlikely to be offered a longer deal, as the club have usually only offered players in their 30s contracts in 12-month increments under Daniel Levy's stewardship.

After being an unused substitute against both Manchester City and Newcastle United, Vertonghen was restored to the starting lineup for their most recent league game against Arsenal, which finished 2-2.
