Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio has urged midfielder Jack Colback to make a decision regarding his future.
The 23-year-old is reported to be considering his position at the Stadium of Light due to having just one year remaining on his contract.
"I've already spoken to him twice and he's done very well," Sky Sports News quotes Di Canio as saying. "He is a genuine guy with a fantastic attitude. Also he's got quality too.
"He has to make clear what he wants to do in the future because if one player has it in his brain to leave, it is difficult."
Colback made 35 appearances last season in which the Black Cats narrowly missed relegation from the Premier League.
