Sunderland have completed the signing of Sweden international Ola Toivonen.
The attacking midfielder, 29, joins the Black Cats on a season-long loan from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.
"I worked with Ola at PSV so I know him well," manager Dick Advocaat told Sunderland's official website. "He is a national team player with a lot of experience, an attacking midfielder who can score goals and is good in the air - he will bring something different to the team."
Toivonen, who has made 43 appearances for Sweden, started his career with Degerfos IF before moving to Rennes after spells with Gothenburg, Malmo and PSV Eindhoven.
The Swede could be in line to make his Premier League debut against Aston Villa this Saturday.
