West Ham United have reportedly missed out on Benfica striker Darwin Nunez after a deadline day approach.
With David Moyes said to have been keen to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window, the Irons were linked with a swoop for the Uruguayan.
According to Ian Dennis, talks between the two clubs have now broken down, with the 22-year-old set to stay in Lisbon for the remainder of the season after an initial bid from the London club in the region of £40m.
Such an advancement leaves Moyes's side still searching for their first arrival of the winter window, with West Ham reportedly having also rekindled their interest in Manchester United's Jesse Lingard, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the London Stadium.
Nunez has attracted interest with 15 goals in 16 Primeira Liga games for the title-chasers so far this season, after he netted six league goals in his first campaign in Portugal last term.
