Wolverhampton Wanderers will be looking to achieve a club first when they square off against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

Wolverhampton Wanderers will be attempting to record a club first when they travel to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.

The West Midlands outfit have spent much of this season's Premier League battling relegation, Julen Lopetegui being the third lead man in the dugout during 2022-23.

However, the arrival of the Spaniard has, so far, had the desired effect with Wolves now in 13th position in the table and eight points clear of the bottom three with five matches remaining.

Lopetegui has stressed that his Wolves side still have work to do, a sensible assessment given that games with Aston Villa, Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal follow their upcoming encounter at the Amex Stadium.

Although Wolves have posted notable away wins versus Everton and Southampton under Lopetegui, they possess the fourth-worst record on their travels this season.

Wolves are also on a five-game winless streak away from Molineux, the most recent of nine defeats in 16 away matches coming at Leicester City last weekend.

Nevertheless, Wolves can call upon a comeback draw at Nottingham Forest to provide them with belief ahead of their trip to the South coast, where they could achieve something for the first time in their history.

Wolves have never won successive league fixtures away at Brighton, that streak under threat courtesy of their 1-0 victory over the Seagulls in December 2021.

That said, Wolves have only won eight of their 39 matches in history against Brighton, who have prevailed in the previous two fixtures at Molineux and scored three goals on each occasion.

Roberto De Zerbi's side could also record Brighton's first league double over Wolves since 2016-17, when the teams were still competing in the Championship.

Wolves have gone a total of 13 away Premier League matches without keeping a clean sheet, that last being achieved when they were held to a goalless draw by Bournemouth in August.
