Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says that Robin van Persie is a massive influence on and off the field for the Gunners.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has said that losing Robin van Persie would be a massive blow to Arsenal's dressing room.

With just a year left on his contract, it is unclear whether the Dutchman will stay at the Emirates Stadium.

Manchester City are believed to be in pole position to sign the 28-year-old, who blasted 30 goals for the Gunners last season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is currently on international duty with England, said that the Dutchman is a big influence on and off the pitch.

"He's a massive part of the dressing room, helping all of us and speaking to the manager about what we're feeling, what we want and what we can do better," the Daily Mail quotes the 18-year-old as saying.

"He even does the little things like arranging get-togethers with players' wives and barbecues and fun days and golf days.

"It will be good if he stays, definitely. I don't know if he will but I hope he does."

Oxlade-Chamberlain made 16 appearances for Arsenal last season, scoring two goals.
