Aston Villa have reportedly identified Daniel Sturridge as a potential summer signing.
After netting 67 goals from 160 appearances during a six-and-a-half-year stay at Liverpool, Sturridge is available on a free transfer ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
The 29-year-old is not short of admirers - despite his previous injury problems - and it appears that a newly-promoted club hold an interest in his services.
According to The Sun, Villa are contemplating a bid for the England international, who was born in Birmingham.
The Championship playoff winners have already made a number of high-profile signings since earning a return to the top flight, leaving the potential addition of Sturridge as an attractive option.
