Brighton & Hove Albion have edged closer to completing a club-record deal for Colombian winger Jose Izquierdo, according to reports.
The 25-year-old helped Club Brugge finish runners-up in the Belgian Pro League last season with 14 goals in 28 games.
Izquierdo's impressive form earned him his first call-up to the national team for the June friendlies against Spain and Cameroon, scoring in the latter game.
According to Sky Sports News, Brighton representatives met with Izquierdo last night in a restaurant in Belgium to finalise the deal, which is believed to be worth an initial £13.5m, potentially rising to £16m.
The report adds that the deal is subject to the player passing a medical, which has been scheduled for Thursday, and a work permit being granted.
Brighton broke their club record earlier this week when they signed Dutch midfielder Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven.
