James Milner has admitted that England were below par during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Poland in Warsaw.
The visitors took the lead through Wayne Rooney in the World Cup qualifier before Karim Glik scored late on to secure a point for the Poles.
"I don't think we moved the ball anywhere near as well as we can do, so that was disappointing," said Milner.
"On the other hand, we did have chances as well, on the break, but they kept us pending for long periods.
"I thought we defended pretty well and worked very hard so it was disappointing to concede the goal."
Despite the draw, England are now top of Group H by a point after four games.
