Burnley defender James Tarkowski has withdrawn from England's standby list for the World Cup as he requires a hernia operation.
The 25-year-old was one of five back-up options for the Three Lions, along with Adam Lallana, Lewis Cook, Jake Livermore and clubmate Tom Heaton.
Tarkowski's dream of competing in Russia this summer is over, though, with an assessment indicating that surgery is required.
England have announced that they do not intend to call up a replacement defender at this time, with the World Cup now less than three weeks from getting underway.
Former Brentford defender Tarkowski, who made his international debut in the 1-1 draw with Italy earlier this year, is expected to recover in time for Burnley's pre-season campaign in July.
