Elche hold Getafe

Getafe spurn the chance to move fourth in the Primera Liga standings after Richmond Boakye's second-half equaliser denies Los Azulones.

Getafe have missed the chance to move up to fourth in the Primera Liga standings after being held to a 1-1 draw by Elche at the Coliseum.

Los Azulones, who had never faced their Valencian counterparts in the Spanish top flight before, were given the perfect start by Pedro Leon, who fired the hosts into the lead on 18 minutes.

Luis Garcia Plaza's men failed in their attempts to build on their advantage and were made to pay the price for their profligacy.

Juventus loanee Richmond Boakye, starting just his second league game of the season, justified his selection by restoring parity midway through the second half and earning a valuable point.

Getafe travel to the Spanish capital for a clash with Atletico Madrid in a fortnight, with the domestic calendar halted due to the international break, while Elche host Valencia in a city derby.
