Jurgen Klopp says that new signing Mohamed Salah is a "fantastic player" who will help score and create chances, while also adding some further pace in attack.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he is excited to throw Mohamed Salah into his first team next season after recently landing the midfielder from Roma.

The Reds splashed out a club-record fee of £37m to sign Salah, who failed to make an impact during his previous spell in English football with Chelsea.

Klopp has no doubt that the Egypt international will be a big hit at Anfield, however, as he has all the attacking qualities required to help Liverpool build on their fourth-place finish of last season.

"Even if people didn't know too much about him, they [must have] watched a few videos and they are impressive," he told the club's official website. "We have had a few talks of course, spoke to each other – he is a really nice lad.

"He is really looking forward to coming to Liverpool and joining us. He is a fantastic player, with speed. We said after last season, there are a few things we would try to involve in an already really good squad; one of the things is speed, being kind of a finisher, preparing chances, making goals and all that stuff.

"He brings all this in. He is a naturally fit boy – he can run as quick and as long as he wants. That's all good. I'm really looking forward to [working with him]."

Salah will link up with his new Liverpool teammates at their Melwood training base next week, before jetting off to Hong Kong as part of the Reds' preparations for the new campaign.
