Liverpool defender Joel Matip has declared himself fit for the club's game against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.

The former Cameroon international missed the Reds' last two games before the international break after picking up a knock against Sheffield United.

Speaking to the club's website, Matip said: "I'm back in training and hopefully I will stay fit.

"I'm back in training and I feel good. Of course, if I'm needed, I will be there."

The 28-year-old's partnership with Virgil van Dijk has been integral to the club's success in recent times and he won the PFA Player of the Month award in September for his part in Liverpool's unbeaten start to the league season.
