Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola 'to sign deal worth £19.5m per year'

Manchester City are reportedly prepared to hand manager Pep Guardiola a new contract worth £19.5m per year.

Manager Pep Guardiola has reportedly indicated that he is ready to sign a new contract at Manchester City.

Guardiola still has just under 18 months remaining on his deal at the Etihad Stadium, but the City hierarchy has recently expressed a desire to keep the Spaniard at the club past the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

According to The Sun, the two parties have reached an agreement over a contract worth £19.5m per year, which will run until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Guardiola has previously shown a preference for being in charge of a team for a set period of time, but the 47-year-old now appears ready to remain in the North-West of England for a minimum of five years.

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich coach has won 67 of his 98 matches in charge of City, who could win their first trophy under Guardiola when they face Arsenal in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
