Sir Alex Ferguson backs Rafael da Silva to grow at Manchester United

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident that Rafael da Silva will progress at Manchester United after the full-back signed a four-year contract.

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Rafael da Silva can become one of the most admired full-backs in world football.

The 21-year-old signed a fresh four-year deal at Old Trafford yesterday.

"Rafael is one of the club's brightest young prospects," said Ferguson. "He has no fear of playing and has great belief in himself.

"Rafael has all the attributes to become one of the best full-backs in the world and I am delighted he has signed a new contract."

The defender joined the Red Devils in 2008.
