Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer has said that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal will be "very lucky" to avoid the sack following the club's poor recent form.
The Red Devils have failed to win 17 of their last 25 matches in all competitions, including back-to-back defeats at the hands of struggling Sunderland and European minnows FC Midtjylland this week.
Numerous reports already this season have erroneously suggested that United had lost patience with the Dutchman, but Shearer does not expect his reign to last much longer.
"I think he will be very lucky to see this out," the Premier League's record goalscorer told BBC Sport.
"I admired him for the way he kept fighting back and sticking up for his team and himself and his club, but I thought he looked a defeated man after Sunderland and the performance in midweek in the Europa League was terrible."
United take on League One side Shrewsbury Town in the last 16 of the FA Cup on Monday night.
