Manchester United's David de Gea has reportedly moved to the brink of becoming the highest-paid goalkeeper in world football.
De Gea is currently in his eighth campaign at Old Trafford, but United are yet to agree fresh terms with the Spain international at a time when the club are off the pace in the Premier League.
There have been suggestions that De Gea was not prepared to sign a new contract until United were closer to the top four or it had been determined whether Jose Mourinho's long-term future was at the North-West giants.
However, according to The Sun, De Gea is ready to extend his stay at United on a deal which could go above £400,000 per week after bonuses.
The report claims that De Gea has told friends that he intends to remain at the club, although there is no indication whether any announcement is imminent.
United recently triggered a 12-month option, leaving De Gea's deal scheduled to expire in 2020.
