Manchester United are reportedly still short of Sporting Lisbon's valuation of Bruno Fernandes as talks between the two clubs continue.
The Red Devils are allegedly still hopeful of signing the Portugal international before the end of the month despite seemingly dropping their interest last week.
According to Sky Sports News, the two clubs remain in discussions over the possibility of a January deal, although United are still short of Sporting's valuation.
The report claims that the 20-time English champions are willing to pay just over £46m for the attacking midfielder, who has scored 15 times and provided 14 assists in 27 appearances at club level this season.
Sporting allegedly value Fernandes in the region of £60m, though, suggesting that there will need to be a compromise if the deal is to go through before Friday night's deadline.
United have struggled for creativity from the number 10 position this season with Juan Mata, Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard all finding it difficult to contribute on a consistent basis.
