Danny Simpson has revealed that he could leave Newcastle during the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old has 18 months remaining on his current contract but has come under pressure from Davide Santon for his first-team place.
"There is a chance in the future that I will be moving, whether in the transfer window or in the summer," said Simpson at a court hearing for a speeding offence.
"I have 18 months left on my contract and I don't think it will go past that."
The defender had been linked with a move to Aston Villa during the summer transfer window.
Simpson joined Newcastle permanently from Manchester United in 2010 after spending a season on loan at St James' Park.
