Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has been ruled out for a year after suffering a serious knee injury.
The 22-year-old, who is the club's top goalscorer, was in visible discomfort after suffering the injury during the 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic on Wednesday night.
It was initially feared that Assombalonga would be sidelined for the rest of the season, but after surgery in the past 24 hours, Forest have revealed that their star player will be absent until 2016.
Since signing for the club from Peterborough United for £5.5m in the summer, Assombalonga has netted 15 times in 32 appearances in all competitions.
